At Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High, all special education students receive all their instruction in the general education classrooms, taught by teachers who are highly qualified in those areas. The IEPC accommodations allow the special education students to be in these classrooms. They will receive instruction from the special education teacher in the resource classroom for 1 period per day. During this time, they are expected to bring all assignments they to finish or receive assistance with, and are graded on responsibility (coming to class on time), preparation (bringing all assignments/materials to class) and participation (working quietly and finishing assignments. They will also spend time working on IEPC goals, test taking skills/strategies and learning self-advocacy skills.
Starting 1/29/14 - I will have 2 resource rooms with 4-5 students in each class. This way I can give more individual attention to each student and help them complete/turn in assignments to improve their grades. The students who have me 6th hour, will go to 7th hour specials afterwards. The other group will go to an achievement class 6th hr in the gen. ed. classrooms and then have me 7th hr. This group WILL NOT have a special. At the 4th marking period, the 2 groups will switch so that each group will only miss specials for 1 marking period.
